What's the most surprising thing about your job that people don't expect?

Interestingly, I've found that many people, even younger demographics, aren't entirely sure what an e-commerce manager's role entails. For instance, at a recent McGill event, I had numerous conversations with students who were eager to learn about my day-to-day tasks and the overall function of the position.

What does a typical day look like in your position?

My day usually starts with a great oat milk latte from our office machine – a must! Then I get a couple of focused hours to check yesterday's sales and see how we're tracking against last year and our goals. After that, I dive into our website's KPIs to spot any red flags or areas where we should focus our energy. The rest of the day is pretty dynamic with meetings with different teams, brainstorming short-term wins and longer-term projects. Lunchtime is something I really value – I always try to spend some time with the team to just connect as people, chat about weekend plans, or swap restaurant recommendations. It keeps things fun and builds a real team vibe.

What opportunities for growth have you experienced at Psycho Bunny?

Psycho Bunny has been fantastic for my professional development. Back when I was still in France, I was an e-com manager. But moving to Canada, I knew I had to take a few steps back; so I joined Psycho Bunny as a content specialist, which turned out to be a great way to understand the local market. Fast forward a couple of years, I was promoted to e-commerce manager. I am so grateful for the trust that the team has put in me and for the responsibility I was given. Not only does Psycho Bunny value experience and hard work, but the company also provides limitless opportunities for growth, especially through experienced colleagues who bring insights from big companies.

What makes working at Psycho Bunny different from other companies?

Honestly, it feels like one big family here. Everyone knows each other, and there's always a smile and a quick chat when you see someone in the office. People genuinely make time for you if you need to talk something through. I feel really valued and that my opinions matter. Plus, there's this real passion for the brand, so everyone's really invested. And because it's still a growing company, there's tons of opportunity to evolve and if you have ideas, people are actually open to hearing them. It's definitely not a place where you feel stuck in a routine.

Best part about working between Canada and the US?

One of the most exciting things is that we're a Montreal company with a major footprint in the US. It's a really dynamic environment with a lot of potential. We get to really strategize and customize our approach for different parts of North America. I'm actually hoping to travel to the US more to get a deeper understanding of American shoppers. I've always been fascinated by consumer behavior, and seeing the differences between European and North American consumers in action is really intriguing.

Most valuable skill for this position?

I believe a combination of analytical thinking, technical aptitude, a proactive interest in e-commerce trends, and a customer-centric mindset are crucial for this role. Strong analytical skills allow you to extract actionable insights from KPIs. Being tech-savvy facilitates effective communication with developers and sometimes enables independent problem-solving. Staying abreast of e-commerce innovations is vital for business growth. Finally, consistently putting yourself in the customer's shoes ensures a seamless and intuitive online experience. And of course, I often explore other websites to observe their strategies for promotions and new product launches.

Share a memorable moment that captures what your job is really like

You know, it's not just one big thing, but more a collection of little moments. It's the casual chats you can have with the executives because they're so down-to-earth. It's someone randomly ordering doughnuts when the week gets a little bit tough. I even remember one meeting where there was sausages and red wine, just because – totally unexpected! And recently, a colleague who's been a great mentor gave me a book filled with really helpful advice. It's all these little human interactions that make working at Psycho Bunny unique. It’s made my work life much more enjoyable and my time here extend beyond just punching in and out to actually wanting to be here and spending time with the team.

What's your work-mode fashion statement?

Fashion plays a role in my work confidence, so I like to make a statement with my outfits. You might find me in bold pieces and accessories, like embroidered cowboy boots with my favourite Psycho Bunny shirt (literally the best shirt i've ever owned) and jeans. It's about channeling a sense of strength and feeling good in what I'm wearing. My style varies with my mood, but the underlying intention is always to present a confident and authentic version of myself.
